HACIENDA SAN NICOLAS DE LOS AGUSTINOS - DATES FROM l557 The simplicity of its style from the “Clover Leaf” arch of the main entrance, this structure is impressive! ! ! Regardless of the passing of almost 500 years, this Hacienda vibrates with the mystical wave and influence of its yesteryears occupants the Augustinian Friars. As we walk on its ample and great colonnades with arches, corridors and balustrade of stone “an aura of peace invades the visitor.” Everything is in perfect Proportion: the past and the present, the solid structure with the beauty of the panoramic view, the silence with the chirping of birds and sounds of the people and vendors on the main Public Plaza across the street. On one angle of the property there is a solid square observatory tower. The panoramic view from the corridors and roof of the building is superb and from the tower is powerful ! This is a genuine construction of the fifteen hundreds ( 1557 ) with massive walls and high ceilings, many rooms built around a central court of approximately 20 X 20 square meters. In that era all buildings were constructed with only one story, but this beauty has two stories, which is an unusual and unique feature of that period producing an “Architectonic Master Piece.” 0f the many rooms existing in both floors, some may had been large dormitories and others smaller could had been offices or rooms to receive visitors. Some rooms have been partitioned to be used as small cells in more recent times. These partitions may be easily removed. 0n the street level were located probably the dining halls for every day and others for formal receptions. There are no vestiges of a kitchen of the XVI Century, but there is a large kitchen and pantry badly furnished with more or less contemporary equipment. There is a small chapel with a very beautiful and interesting cupola and columns where probably the main altar was situated. The cupola and columns are well preserved, bu the walls are damaged because this area of Guanajuato was very active during the War of Independence and more so during the Civil War of 1910. The Hacienda no longer has land except for a fairly large back garden ( in not good condition ) with some fruit trees and two large water pools, very deep, which were used not too long ago, to bath the horses, and which could be converted to modern swimming pools. All the land that used to belong to the hacienda from the XVI Century to about the very early part of the XIX Century when the Old Hacienda ceased to exist as such, now belongs to the town which surrounds the building on all sides. The town of San Nicholas grew around the Hacienda. 0f the original structure nothing has been changed or removed, but the place needs restoration.
“HACIENDA SAN NICOLAS DE LOS AGUSTINOS” is LOCATED between the City of Salvatierra and the City of Yuriria, both at only fifteen minutes’ distance. http://mexicochannel.net/maps/guanajuato_sct.jpg Both these cities have shops and markets, schools and are clean and interesting and where shopping may be done without the need to go to larger of better known cities. In Yuriria there is one of the most important Monasteries in all of Mexico because of its imposing “Architecture Plateresca” of the same XVI Century. “HACIENDA SAN NICOLAS DE LOS AGUSTINOS” is near SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE, about one and a half hours’ comfortable drive. The Highways are good and well kept and the entrance from the highway to the Hacienda is cobbled stoned. LEON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, code “BJX” would be the international communication center as it is San Miguel, only 60 miles’ distance. 0ther important cities very near the Hacienda are Celaya, Acambaro and Salamanca. In the South, the neighboring Estate is Michoacan, its Capital City Morelia, only An hour from the Hacienda. Visitors coming to this area enjoy Patzcuaro and Uruapan.
The CLIMATE is very good, similar to San Miguel de Allende with more regular seasonal changes and less traffic. There is plenty of water, modern electricity, telephone service, television, etc. This beautiful “masse” could be made into a STORY RESORT HOTEL, totally out of the ordinary using all its existing charms. Since it has no disposable land to offer out of doors entertainment, the “within walls” has to be developed into a different and unique area offering the sort of enticement for guests of a more elegant turn of mind. Therein lies the possibility of creating something of imposing success. It could have out of doors a tennis and badminton Court, Cricket court, swimming, FANTASTIC CUISINE, THE BEST WINES, COGNACS, CHAMPAGNE. Delicate music, Games rooms to play Cards, Domino, Chess, etc. Even the young people would be interested in enjoying something like this in place of the well known and Common Antros.
TOTAL LAND OF THE HACIENDA : 3,945.94 metros cuadrados, almost an Acre ( 4,047 meters ) ACTUAL REAL ESTATE TAXES: $3,952.2 Pesos Mexicanos por año, $391 US Dollars per Year ! HUGE PROPERTY & LOW REDUCED PRICE FOR A QUICK SALE: SACRIFICE ! YOURS FOR ONLY $500,000.00 US DOLLARS |
